Clean Skin Routine

Posted by Admin Friday, 25 September 2009

You'll be amazed at how easy it is to achieve great looking skin. Just get into the right skin care habits and glow your way to a health skin.

The Seven Skin Habits

  1. Drink 8-10 glasses of water everyday. Water flushes out the toxins from your system and will keep your skin hydrated and healthy.
  2. Exercise for at least thirty minutes everyday. It brings blood and nutrients to the skin and tones those muscles.
  3. Get plenty of sleep, you'll look and feel great! Try an aroma therapy pillow for more soothing dreams.
  4. Wear sunscreen. The sun is especially harsh nowadays so guard your skin.
  5. Load up on fresh fruits and vegetables. The organic way to yummy, glowing skin.
  6. Don't smoke. Smoking destroys the vitamin C that keeps your skin looking young and healthy. It will definitely age your skin.
  7. Relax and unwind. Say goodbye to the stress in your life. Light a scented candle, dim the lights, and put on your favorite mellow CD or MP3, then drift off into the world of serenity.

Clean Skin Routine

  • In the morning, cleanse and freshen your skin with a mild cleanser.
  • At night, cleanse then exfoliate. Remember not to be too harsh when you exfoliate.
Skin Tips: If your skin is oily, try not to wash your face too often. You should only cleanse 2-3 times a day with a gentle cleanser. Washing until your face is tight and dry triggers your oil glands to produce more oil, thus making your face oilier and prone to break outs. When you wash your face, use warm, not cold water. warm water helps dissolve oil and dirt. But if the water is very hot, be careful! It can break the tiny veins in your skin.

Wash before you exercise. Your sweat acts as your skin extra cleanser. If your skin is clogged with make up, powder, or foundation, your sweat don't be able to cleanse efficiently. When you sweat don't wipe your face with your hands or your arm, use a clean towel.

Steam Clean: Prepare for a big bowl of hot (not boiling) water. For combination skin mint and lemon peel are a successful combination. Cover your head with a towel and make a tent of it as you lean over the bowl. trapping the steam. enjoy the feeling for 5 minutes then pat dry then exfoliate. Our skin constantly change. It undergoes a cycle of 28-40 days, then our skin is renewed again. Exfoliants are good for removing the daed skin on your face.

To remove excess oil without clogging your pores with powder, try usinga control film. It doesn't remove moisture, and you can actually get a kick out of seeing how much oil you had on your face.

Enjoy Happy Weekend!

Acne, Pimples, Zit , Oh No! not again!

Acne can hit you at the worst time, causing breakouts without regard to age or gender. Most of those that suffers from acne, though, are between 12 and 24. Just about 80% of people who are in this age group get some acne and of those 26% will get permanent scarring that will range from minimal to noticeable at a glance.

Those over 24, though, can still suffer from the effects of acne. The American Dermatologist Association reports that 20% of all adults have active acne. This translates to the fact that 60 million American teens through adults have active acne skin lesions and 20 million of those have acne that is extensive enough to cause scars. Surprisingly, only about 10% of those affected with acne will try to get treatment, but this is due, in part, to the way people look down on those with acne.

There is hope, though, for acne sufferers. Once you know what causes acne, the things that help and the things that don't help and how to prevent your acne, you can make the necessary changes to get skin that is clear and glowing.

What Causes Acne?

While acne is not contagious, there are some known factors that do increase your chances of getting acne skin lesions. Generally, acne is caused when the sebaceous glands produce excess oil. Other causes can include:

  • An inherited tendency towards acne or genetics
  • Hormones and hormone imbalances
  • Some illnesses
  • Over washing the skin
  • Cosmetics that are oil based
  • Some prescribed medications
  • Stress and anxiety
  • Poor cleansing of the skin
  • Physical irritation

Don't Waste your Time (or Money)

While some acne remedies work, many will not. When selecting an over the counter remedy, be wary. Many of the acne products on the shelves today have harsh components that can dry out your skin, and could even make your acne worse. Choose your acne products carefully and seek out products that are easy on your skin.

What Really Works

Four things are guaranteed to help acne. Together they pack a powerful punch to make acne a thing of the past.

  • Healthy diet
  • Water
  • Proper cleansing
  • Adequate sleep

To treat acne you currently are suffering from, use natural products such as tea tree oil which has strong antiseptic properties and is really effective. Witch hazel is a helpful skin toner and it can give you a healthy glow. Mint is a good spot treatment, especially for cystic acne. It will cool and sooth the skin and kill bacteria in the process.

A good cleansing mask that you can make in a couple of minutes is an egg white and corn starch mask. Make a paste with the egg white and corn starch. Apply it to clean skin and allow it to dry. Remove with a wet washcloth and then rinse. You will find yourself with great skin.

An Ounce of Prevention

Prevention is an easy way to avoid acne. The best way to prevent acne is to take good care of yourself. A simple, diet without much fat that includes a good variety of fresh fruits, vegetables and whole grains will help keep your skin free of zits. Dark green leafy vegetables, like spinach, are great acne fighters. You should also drink plenty of fresh water to keep your body hydrated. Getting enough sleep is another easy beauty tool. Physicians recommend approximately seven hours of sleep a night.

Finally, proper cleansing of your skin is necessary for keeping it clear. You should cleanse your skin every day. If you wear cosmetic makeup, take it off each night before retiring for the night. When washing your skin, use a cleanser that is gentle and be sure that the water is not too hot. Don't scrub or over cleanse because that can make your acne worse. Rinse your skin well and blot dry with a clean towel. When you make an effort to prevent acne, you won't have to worry about it.

Caring for your Dry Skin

Posted by Admin Monday, 1 December 2008

When our skin loses moisture, its surface starts to crack. Sometimes the dry skin is just itchy, without a rash. Dry skin usually affects the lower legs, back of the hands, and forearms. Other times, the dry areas may develop dermatitis, which results in itchy skin that's red and raw.

There are factors that contribute to dry, cracked skin include:

  • Chapping and skin irritation due to friction.
  • Certain soaps, detergents, and solvents.
  • Hypothyroidism, or excessive weight loss.
  • Advancing age, which causes a noticeable decrease in the natural lubrication of the skin.
  • Too frequent bathing or showering, especially in chlorinated water.
  • Cool and dry weather, especially when the winds are strong or humidity is low.
  • Air-conditioning.
  • and Genetics.
Moisture is the key to dry skin. You can prevent or reverse dry skin, whether on wet or dry days. Just try to this tips:
  • Apply moisturizer liberally and often, particularly after bathing and when skin feels itchy. The drier the skin, the thicker the application shoud be, especially on the hands.
  • A bath a day is enough, especially since we don't sweat as much in rainy weather as we do in hot summer months. For extra measure, use lukewarm, not hot water, and keep baths brief.
  • Use non-drying soap substitutes or gentle moisturizing soaps that cleanse your skin without removing its natural oil.
  • Apply a barrier hand cream (ask your doctor or pharmacist) or petroleum jelly if your hands or legs are frequently in water especially in floodwater.
  • Pat, don't rub, your skin dry after you bath or shower.
  • Use hypoallergenic cosmeticss

A day at the office can subject your skin to stresses and if gotten worst skin cancer, you might be aware of dehydration from heating and cooling systems, ultra violet radiation from fluorescent lighting or unshaded window and prolonged exposure from photocopiers and other office machinery(not to mention what drinking several cups of coffee can do to your skin's hydration level.

The solution? Your first line of defense is a good moisturizer with SPF (sun protection factor) and antioxidants vitamins to help counteract UV radiation. If you sit by a window, ask to have a solar filter instead. If you're near a radiator, get humidifier or place a bowl of water on the radiator to help get some moisture in the air and keep skin more supple.

Quick Tip: DIY treatment for dry skin

Posted by Admin Friday, 5 September 2008

Dry, flaky skin is usually cause by low production of oil by the sebaceous glands. In such cases, there isn't enough oil on on skin to create a protective barrier. Eventually, the skin dries out because there's not enough oil to keep moisture from evaporating. Sometimes skin can get so dry that it itches and feels tight. Water itself cannot penetrate the skin, and pouring water on your face can, in fact, take even more moisture away from the face.

DIY treatment - Use a facial moisturizer that absorbs quickly, preferably one without any fragrance. People with dry skin should avoid any type of skin care products with cologne perfume, and alcohol because these cause dryness. Moisturizing lotions with natural oils also prevent moisture loss and add softness.

Acne: Simple understanding and prevention

Posted by Admin Saturday, 23 August 2008

Squeezing only makes them angrierImage by slopjop via Flickr Understanding Acne - is a common disorder that occurs when glands secrete too much oil in the skin. The excessive oil causes pimples that are usually found on the face, but sometimes also on the back, shoulders, and chest.

Pimple attacks are common among teenagers. But acne may persist in adulthood because of hormonal imbalance or too much estrogen (maybe that's why i still have some). During menstruation and menopause, stress due to emotional problems, and a bad diet.

A more direct cause of acne is dirt and dead skin that accumulates inside oily pores, clogging them and causing a raise buildup. When a bacteria enters the picture, pimples occur. Other causes can include allergies, dehydration, heredity, and weakened immunity.

Simple Prevention - First treat the surrounding skin area, not just the spot where the pimple is. This will not just heal the pimple but also prevent recurrence. And second do not over wash. Excessive washing will make skin even oilier and more likely to break out again. Also resist the temptation to pop your pimples. Touching causes inflammation making it more infected than it already is. Follow a sensible skin care regimen, including a mild toner that maintains the PH-balance of your skin and keeps it from dying out or getting too oily. Use the toner after washing with a medicated facial wash.
