What do we get on Cigarettes?

Posted by Admin Tuesday, 25 August 2009

"Can you imagine blogging with your favorite laptop in front of the exhaust of car while the engine is running?" The carbon monoxide fumes from a car exhaust can kill you. But so can that cigarette that you puff on lazily as you blog on your laptop. That's because carbon monoxide fumes are released in the air when tobacco is burned. Its also stays inside the body to combine with hemoglobin, a form of protein in the red blood cells that transports oxygen to the body tissues. This combination slowly depletes the body of its oxygen supply. Which means that's smoking and sports don't mix since carbon monoxide reduces the supply of oxygen for your muscles. Research shows that smokers suffer shortness of breath almost 3 times more often than non-smokers. Carbon monoxide and nicotine combined can paralyze the lungs delicate hairs, called cilia. The respiratory system relies on the cilia to "sweep" the lungs and airways clean of dust, mucous and other dirt. Paralyzation Prevents them from doing this crucial function. The result, is what we known as smoker's cough.

What's in a Cigarette

There are lots! more than just addictive nicotine, these are the poison that go into your lungs each time you inhale cigarette smoke:

  • Arsenic: used in rat poison
  • Acetic Acid: hair dye and developer
  • Acetone: main ingredient in paint and fingernail polish remover
  • Ammonia: a typical household cleaner
  • Benzene: rubber cement
  • Cadmium: found in batteries and artists oil paint
  • Carbon monoxide: poison
  • Formaldehyde: used to embalm dead bodies
  • Hydrazine: used in jet and rocket fuels
  • Hydrogen Cyanide: poison in gas chambers
  • Naphthalene: use in explosive, moth balls and paint pigments
  • Nickel: used in the process of electroplating
  • Phenol: used in disinfectants and plastics
  • Polonium:radiation dosage, equal to 300 chest x-rays in one year
  • Styrene: found in insulation material
  • Tuluene: embalmers glue
  • Vinyl chloride: ingredient found in garbage bags
The damage smoking does to our insides eventually shows in our physical appearance. Its not about being vain, but puffing can really strip you of handsome/pretty points. Unless you want any of these features on you, think real hard before deciding to light up a cigarette.
  • Facial wrinkles
  • Bad breath
  • Black lips
  • A yellow stain on fingertips
  • Stained teeth that's either yellowish or brownish
  • An overall odor of stale smoke that everyone, except you, can detect
Smoking or not smoking? Do we have to think twice?

If you ask a smoker what are the good things they get from smoking, i think no one can answer a very positive answer, but still many are addicted to it. but if you ask what are the bad things you could get from smoking here are the top 5:

5. Halitosis or Bad Breath: No one wants a bad breath

4. Emphysema and Chronic bronchitis: Symptoms are hard to breath, continuous coughing, and too much phlegm in our lungs.

3. Heart Disease: the smoke of a cigarette retrograde to the oxygen that we breath, then oxygen combine with the blood that circulate around our body system , and then blood will go back to our heart with the chemicals that we get from the smoke of the cigarette. This is the cause of heart disease.

2. Cancer in the mouth, throat and esophagus: because cigarettes contains nicotine, carbon monoxide, at tar this chemicals causes cancer

1. Cancer in the lungs: This is the best disease that you could get in smoking cigarettes, and sometimes people who smoke don't even know and its too late after they know it that he has a lung cancer.

Still there are some bad things you could get from smoking cigarettes like teeth gets discolored, fingertips turns yellow, turns you into addict in smoking, smelly clothes, gets tired easily. and so much more.

Pregnant women who smokes can affects his unborn child because of chemicals that she inhale while smoking.

There are people that already stop from smoking but suddenly they keep coming back.
